White-Label Mountain Report

Background: ski resorts communicate information about weather, snow conditions, lift operations, trail statuses, and available activities in real-time. These factors drive resort visitation (eg fresh snow) and are commonly grouped together on a “mountain report” webpage. Given the importance of conditions to skiers and snowboarders, mountain report pages are the first or second most visited pages during operational seasons.

Prior to undertaking this initiative, each resort under the company umbrella built a custom mountain report page and reporting system. This set up required intensive upkeep and created inconsistent guest experiences across 14 sites. My pitch was to create a white-label mountain report template and standardized backend system that would accommodate all key reporting needs while offering flexibility for diverse operations and offerings across resorts and winter/summer seasons. Resort marketing leaders could opt-in to implement the new React-based frontend and streamlined backend system.

We received unanimous buy-in from all resorts with additional requests to expedite the implementation timeline to meet resort opening dates for the upcoming winter season. Over the next 4 months, I managed the workflows of a talented team of designers and developers as we built and tested the enhanced reporting system specific to each resort’s configuration.

The final phase involved partnering with each resort team to complete and validate dashboard component selections, brand styling, and API performance before launching.
