Native Integrated Ecommerce

Background: after several years of running ecommerce through an out-of-the-box booking engine, which required guests to leave the site to book a product or service, we found an opportunity to develop a seamless booking experience. By using the booking engine’s API capabilities, we could integrate the booking experience directly into the resort website. This would simplify the process from the guest’s perspective while also giving resorts more control over ecommerce related content and conversion flows.

Using Inntopia’s API, we were able to integrate lodging bookings, lesson products, rental products, and activity reservations by developing custom ecommerce components. By developing our own components, we were able to move much of the configuration from the booking engine into the CMS. This gave our resort employees more control over both the shopping and booking experiences.

My roles was to act as the CMS product manager while also representing the needs of resort marketing and ecommerce managers (primary users of the integrated system). Some of my project deliverables included configuration guides, brand styling of new componentry, API testing in partnership with booking engine experts, and analytics configuration.
